SID STRONG FOUNDATION

HOPE IN THE FACE OF PEDIATRIC CANCER

Thank you for visiting Sid Strong Foundation. We are a 503 (c) (3) charitable organization established to honor the legacy of Sidney Fitzgerald "Sid" Ortis. Our foundation has a very straight-forward mission. We provide financial support to research scientists & clinical oncologists working tirelessly to develop and refine new and existing treatments for pediatric cancers. It is our hope that one day we will have curative treatments for many these pediatric cancers. Until that time, we will continue to commit our time and financial resources to support the funding of pediatric cancer research which receives less than 4% of the National Cancer Institute budget. Please consider helping us with a tax-deductible donation today.

ABOUT SSF

Sid Ortis was diagnosed with metastatic osteosarcoma shortly before his 15th birthday. Sid was outgoing and hilarious, often a prankster but blessed with the character of someone well beyond his years. While facing a battle for his life, he encouraged those around him to be strong in their faith and live each day with purpose, not allowing fear to steal life's joy. He inspired the entire community of Mountain Brook, Alabama and befriended LSU head coach Les Miles while undergoing multiple surgeries and chemotherapy. His faith-filled journey is best summed up in his own words: "I will either be healed here on earth and get to be with my friends or be healed in heaved and get to be with Jesus...either way I win!"
